Laura’s Loom aims to highlight the beauty and versatility of British wool and to promote the skills of the UK’s textile industry through the production of high quality blankets and scarves.
All of the processing which goes into my limited edition collections, from raw fleece to finished product, happens within 100 miles of my home in Sedbergh in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales.
My story is one of provenance, traceability and sustainability, of landscape and community, where friendships are built through a shared desire to do so much more with an undervalued and overlooked resource and to bring wool back into everybody’s lives.
When I set out to learn to weave 30 years ago I didn’t expect it to become an all consuming creative passion. I also didn’t expect to turn that passion into a small business.
But life often throws us a curve ball and I have had the rare privilege to find myself on an exhilarating journey into a world of wool, textiles and weaving.
I never tire of dreaming up new designs and working with what I think of as one of nature’s miracle fibres.
