FAQ
How does membership work?
Becoming a member gives you the opportunity to create a brand page, add featured products to link readers to your website, host giveaways and feature in our promotional channels such as our newsletter and podcast. You can choose some or all of the opportunities available to you.
How do I apply for membership?
Simply purchase a membership on this page. Your payment will authorised by your bank, but not immediately charged (your bank may show the funds as spent, but they are in a holding period)
You’ll be asked for your website address during checkout and we will review your website within 48hrs.
If we approve your membership your payment will be processed and you’ll receive an order confirmation from us.
If we don’t think your products will be a fit for the directory at this time, we’ll cancel the order request and the payment will not be charged.
Will I be tied to a subscription?
No, you can choose 3, 6 or 12 month blocks of membership and purchase whichever works for your cashflow, all include the same benefits. We’ll remind you when your membership is due to expire so that you can purchase the next block without a break.
What happens if I have a break between memberships?
Your page and products will be immediately hidden from view and redirects applied to them to forward any incoming web traffic to the main categories. For example if you sell a food & drink item, visitors who click on your page or products in Google will be forwarded to our main Food & Drink category.
Your page & products will remain archived for 3 months in case you want to republish them with a new membership.
Building visibility in online search takes time which is why we recommend not breaking your membership.
Why is the minimum 3 months?
It takes time for search engines to recognise new links to your website and for your brand and products to be worked into our own promotions, such as our newsletter, podcast, and features such as gift guides.
Many members also choose to run a giveaway, which runs for 8 weeks – so the 3-month minimum ensures you can make the most of that.
We’ve set it up to be cashflow-friendly, but like most organic marketing, the longer you’re part of the platform, the more impact you’ll see over time as visibility builds and opportunities compound.
Do people buy my products from The Artisan Founder?
No, we simply link our readers to your product or a category page on your own website.
We don’t link to marketplaces.
Why can't I add all of my products?
Our goal is to encourage readers to shop with you directly. We showcase a curated selection of your bestsellers to give a feel for your range and pricing, and gently nudge visitors to explore more on your website.
Can I join if I don't sell physical products?
Yes, we welcome places, and experiences too such as workshops, or holiday lets that celebrate artisan skills and the natural world. If your project immerses our readers in craftsmanship we’d love to hear from you!
Can I join if I sell one off designs?
Yes! Your brand page can feature variable product pricing. For example ‘Textured Silver Rings from £25′ and this can link to a collection on your website or your shop home page, instead of a specific product page.
Will this help my own website SEO?
Yes! Links from trusted, relevant websites like ours can boost your own site’s visibility in search engines. They act as quality signals that tell Google your brand is credible and worth showing in results.
Every product listed links directly to your store, and our directory makes it clear that your site is the official source. Because we manually review every product and assign a 5-star curation rating, your listing is even more likely to stand out in search.
You’ll often see both your own site and your Artisan Founder listing appearing in Google results, giving you double the visibility for the same product.
Is it easy to set up my page?
Yes, you’ll receive a login to a simple page builder form where you add your brand name, logo, bio, lifestyle images etc before adding your individual products with product title, image, description, price and link. All of this is submitted for approval before going live and our friendly team is here to help with any support you need.
Will I be able to edit my page?
Yes, we understand you’ll want to keep your page and products fresh. You’ll be able to log in to your founder dashboard to edit your page and add new products.
Do I have to be in the UK to join?
No, we do welcome overseas members, but you’ll benefit more from membership if you sell into the UK or US which is where most of our website traffic is currently from.
How do giveaways work?
Our members message us when they want to host a giveaway, with a link to their prize. We agree on a schedule for the giveaway to go live and then it is open for entries!
People entering the giveaway have the option to receive news & offers from you, the brand offering the prize. Typically this will bring your business 300-700+ unique contacts to add to your own mailing list. (Multiple giveaways have received mailing lists of over 1000 opt ins!)
A winner is selected at random from all entries and the prize is delivered to the winner directly from the brand.
Can I feature in your Journal without being a member?
Yes, we feature founder stories for free in our Journal which can give you a brief amount of free publicity and a post on our social media.
Journal stories by paying Members gain extra publicity with newsletter features and regular ongoing appearances in our product categories.
