Sweet + Wild

An inspiring story of crafting the ultimate feel-good food.

Sweet + Wild creates indulgent, award-winning hand-made indulgent treats crafted with care in Frome, Somerset, for the planet and the people who enjoy them. This week in the Journal, we explore founder Teddie Faulds’ inspiring journey and her dedication to sustainability, community, and the joy of good food.

It began some time ago, with a journey to discovering the nutritional power of raw foods, nuts and fruits, but our story really starts just before the pandemic (2020).

As the pandemic began to take hold of the UK, people were searching online for healthy treats that were going to bring moments of joy to their day, while improving their health and daily nutritional intake.

Thankfully Sweet + Wild was up and running, and our supply chain was resilient.

Our goals then were simple, and are the same now: to do good for the planet, the wider community, the environment, and for your body.

Our kitchen is a sensory haven, with scents of toasting nuts, melted chocolate and various whole fruits lingering in the air.

All Sweet + Wild’s treats are made entirely of natural ingredients; 64 different fruits, nuts and seeds that all make a positive impact; the richest and highest quality ingredients sourced from around the world.

Our mission is to work directly with growers, farmers and producers, with the help of trusted importers. This way we can ensure a few things:

First, that the foods comes directly to us, in all its unpolished and mis-matched, non-uniform glory.

The fact that this food hasn’t gone three times round the world to find them will hugely reduce the carbon footprint for each ingredient. And then, upon paying top price for ingredients, the majority of that money goes directly to the people and communities that need it – and more importantly deserve it. That’s what Sweet + Wild is about.

I’m the CEO and the power behind Sweet + Wild, although I don’t love the term ‘CEO’, as we’re an artisanal business. I prefer ‘mother’ because of the nurturing aspect of this project-based, purpose driven brand.

I’m starting to form personal relationships with our suppliers, producers and growers, so that we can mutually benefit, whilst growing towards success together.

The Sweet + Wild team is also made up of Kelly ~ our Kitchen Production Manager who helps to create all the treats from scratch at our kitchen HQ in Frome, and Patsy ~ our Social Media and Sustainability Director.

The ‘Sweet + Wild world’ is set in the heart of the Somerset countryside, with a selection of the best quality ingredients coming to us from all around the world.

It’s busy on the weekdays, with trays of delicious treats being made and stored, ready to be sent out to subscribers and one-off shoppers.

The moments of calm come at the end of each day; when the worktops are cleaned down, and the smells are still in the air, it’s lovely to be in the space.

It's our job to source the richest and highest quality ingredients

People will often shop once with us, then immediately sign up for a subscription, because they understand the nutritional power as well as how great the energy balls, truffles and bars taste.

We find that our customers love the variety of seasonal and single flavour bars we create.

They then share with friends, family, take them to work, or on walks, or freeze them for another day. It’s the days when we get brilliant feedback, or a beautiful review online which are really rewarding for the whole team.

The Sweet + Wild team create award-winning hand-made indulgent treats. Importantly these are all consciously sourced and organically grown fruits, nuts and seeds.

No refined sugars, no gluten, no dairy, no soy and no palm oil. Just organically grown fruits, nuts and seeds.

Customers can choose from Paleo, Keto, Vegan, nut-free, soy-free, dairy-free, gluten-free, and certified Organic ingredients, to find chocolate, granola bars, snacks or snack cakes to fit all diets and lifestyles. Sweet + Wild is not exclusive.

We are also a 1% for the Planet environmental partner – contributing at least 1% of annual revenue to environmental causes to protect the environment.

Ultimately I hope to run a regenerative farm in the UK, to grow what I can there and import that which can’t be grown here from other regenerative farms.

Thank you Teddie, for sharing your story. The care and dedication you put into sourcing your ingredients make Sweet + Wild the most feel-good food I’ve ever come across. I’m so glad to have discovered your incredible brand.
